Obbe Tiddens
Obbe Tiddens grew up in Germany but has made his home in Bergen, Netherlands.
He is a physician by profession and an contemporary artist at heart. His passion for high-quality craftsmanship and a profound awareness of human vulnerability comes out strongly in his deep artworks.
As a member of the OLVG Art Committee and through collaborations with the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, he became a positive target for European Art collectors. In 2021, he founded Stichting Stimulus, a foundation that fosters collaborations with museums and cultural institutions to study the impact of art on hospital staff and patients.
As a technically skilled artist, with a love for risk and creation, he merges his own fascination with the Renaissance, Japanese Masters, urban visual culture and symbolic transformation.
His paintings are frozen moments, porcelain atmospheres made from paint, wood, paper and lacquer.
Delicate paint layers alternate with polishes shards and Delft Blue fragments, blending into a dynamic and contrasting whole. They mirror our bizarre world with its fragility.
Artist statement: “Art is the force that moves me, it connects my worlds. Because art is needed everywhere.”
