Li Wei Chen

Chen Li Wei was born in 1960 in the Shiqiuling Mountain area of Keelung, Taiwan. She is a self-taught amateur female artist known for her unique artistic expression and abundant talent. Chen Li Wei created a technique in oil painting, utilizing delicate brushstrokes, palette knives, impasto techniques, and pointillism to create a distinctive artistic world. The three-dimensional marks and relief-like dynamism on her oil paintings are a celebration of beauty and love, while also providing a positive healing force for the soul.

“I consider my early life in the Taiwanese countryside a gift. I lived surrounded by nature, and to a significant extent, influenced by it emotionally. My art is a way of communing with my childhood environment; of recalling the moments of pitch-black nights, buffeted by high winds or the clear blue skies without a cloud in sight.
I exist to paint, to commune with the natural environment, and lastly to make evident who I am.”
