Carola Ludewig

Carola Ludewig describes experimenting on the painting surface as one of her “most important sources of energy”.

Today she can look back on 40 years of experience. Her trademark is her peculiar restraint and a pronounced desire for abstraction.

“Nature not only provides us with the best motifs, but often also the best tools,” says Carola Ludewig.

On the canvases in her studio in Diepholz, she not only works with common materials such as acrylic, watercolors and crayons.

Ludewig also uses unconventional materials such as sand, coffee grounds, peat and packaging materials of all kinds in the creative process. Her works create lasting impressions on the viewer, raise questions and shift the boundaries of what can be experienced.
